Gargäntua is a French pop techno duo created in 2015 by J4N D4RK and GOD3FROY.
Their name comes from the french novel Gargantua(1535) by François Rabelais.

"Notre os, c’est la techno et notre moelle c’est nos textes, et les thèmes durs qui y sont parfois abordés. "

Discovery

I discovered their music in 2021, when a friend decided to drag me to a concert of theirs. I had only listened to Frite Belge beforehand-which I now see as one of their weaker songs-and was blown away by their performance.
La Mort avec toi became an instant favorite, and from there, I slowly made my way through their discography.

My faves
A list of my favorite songs, in no particular order:
- Jargeau
- Le Pape de la Pop
- Chloé
- Demain dès l'aube
- Immoral et Illégal
- La Mort avec toi

La Mort avec toi is the song that hooked me at that first concert. It's the most popular (and for good reasons, too). I discovered Chloé on the same day, but this one took a bit longer to grow on me.
I remember listening to Le Pape de la pop at a friend's house. We were playing Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Croque Carotte, a board game for children. It's a very good memory.
Late 2023, I started listening to Demain dès l'aube and Immoral & Illégal. It was a period marked by uncertainty and uneasiness for me, and many of my memories from that time are tainted by this discomfort. Except the ones related to those songs, which are much more positive.
